1993 Ducati 888 SP5 in Weybridge, Surrey for sale

The 888 SPS was the ultimate racer, available in 1992 with larger valves, higher valve lift, racing cooling system and carbon fibre Termignoni exhausts. The 888 SPS was almost an 888 Corsa racing bike with lights and mirrors. Ducati won the 1992 Superbike Championship with Doug Polen, but a new talent was recruited, Carl Fogarty who joined the Ducati factory Corse team in 1993. Fogarty worked with Massimo Tamburini on the development of a completely new bike at the factory, Ducati was preparing for a move that would change the company forever. In 1993 the 851 began its final year under the title of 888 Strada, although it was virtually the same as the 1992, 851 Strada the engine only displacing the extra 37cc. The final Sport Production model, the 888 SP5 however was mostly based on the 888 SPS and received its high performance engine, but with a SP4 cooling system, a Showa front fork and bronze Brembo wheels. Both the 888 SPS and SP5 are extremely rare and among the best machines money could buy in their day. Dream bikes do not get better than this 1993 Ducati 888 SP5, finished in the classic red this machine was supplied new in the UK. This is number 195 of the five hundred SP5's built and received a major service at the beginning of 2013 and has not been used much since but was on display in a classic car showroom. This Ducati 888 SP5 is supplied with a V5C registration document, a history file containing invoices and old MoT test certificates and the original handbook pack containing handbook and service book. This is a rare opportunity to own a Ducati made famous by one of motor racing superstars, Carl Fogarty.
